WHAT TO EXPECT DURING EMSVELA TREATMENT?
The treatment is non-invasive, non-surgical, and you remain fully clothed while sitting on the EMSVELA chair. We recommend loosely fitted clothing to help achieve best positioning during the treatment. Avoid wearing clothing that contains metal. When the treatment starts, you will feel tingling and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles that will then turn into full contractions. This will be comfortable and tolerable. Your provider can adjust the settings according to your comfort level. During this 28-minute treatment session, you can relax, listen to music, read a magazine, or watch TV.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Although you may observe improvement over a single session, 6 sessions are recommended for the initial treatment of urinary incontinence. The six sessions are scheduled twice a week. Results will typically continue to improve over the next several weeks. IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
There is no downtime associated with EMSVELA. You can return to normal activities right away.
IS EMSVELA COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Currently, EMSVELA is not covered by insurance. However, many Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Federal Flexible Spending accounts (FSA) may cover the EMSVELA treatment. Call to verify if your specific HSA or FSA covers “pelvic floor rehabilitation via electro stimulation.” If it does, you may submit a receipt for reimbursement based on the rules set forth by your plan.
